Global Wind Day is celebrated worldwide annually on June 15. This holiday was established by European Wind Energy Association (WindEurope) and Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). The first celebration took place in 2007, and two years later this date was recognized worldwide and became popular in more than 30 countries of the world.
The main goal of the celebration is to draw the attention of the general public, governments and business to the inexhaustible potential of wind power, which is able to solve a wide range of problems in energy, economy and ecology.
Thousands of different events are held worldwide on this day. Global Wind Day can open the wind power to the public in a cognitive and fascinating form. For industry experts, politicians and businessmen, the organizers of Global Wind Day hold topical workshops, organize excursions to wind power stations, experts tell about the advantages and prospects of using wind power, various actions are held in support of this direction.
Now similar traditions are being formed in Belarus.
On June 15, 2016, the international technical assistance project “Removing Barriers to Wind Power Development in Belarus” celebrated Global Wind Day by holding an international seminar.
This year the project, together with Belarusian environmental public associations, will spend a festive day in the Novogrudok Region (advanced in terms of the level of wind power development in Belarus). It is scheduled to hold meetings with local executive authorities and representatives of RUE “Grodnoenergo” dedicated to discussing further plans for wind power development in our country.
Congratulations to all on Global Wind Day!
