Latest Data on Renewable Energy in Belarus

Compared to the previous year, there is an upward trend in implementation of wind power projects in 2017.

In 2017, 8 wind turbines with a total capacity of 13.2 MW were commissioned in Belarus (in Hrodna Voblast: at Kmicianka, Navahrudak Raion: 1 wind turbine with a capacity of 1.5 MW; by  at Vialikija Liezniavičy, Navahrudak Raion: 1 wind turbine with a capacity of 3.3 MW; in Mahilioŭ Voblast: at Valoki, Mahilioŭ Raion: 3 wind turbines with a total capacity of 4.95 MW, at Viejna, Mahilioŭ Raion: 2 wind turbines with a total capacity of 2 MW, at Mašanaki, Mahilioŭ Raion: 1 wind turbine with an installed capacity of 1.5 MW).

Other renewable energy generators in the country also added new capacity in 2017: 7 photovoltaic plants with total installed capacity of 101.9 MW and 3 hydro power plants (HPPs): 61.8 MW were commissioned.

Thus, by the beginning of 2018 the Republic of Belarus had the following volumes of renewable energy (both thermal and electrical):



Based on the available capacity, the expected electricity output to the Belarus grid from renewable sources will be as follows:

in 2018: 708.1 mln kWh

in 2019: 1,007.1 mln kWh

in 2020: 1,322.4 mln kWh
