In late September, Hamburg traditionally gathers experts from wind sector from nearly all around the world.
Within the framework of implementation of the international technical assistance project “Removing Barriers to Wind Power Development in Belarus”, the Belarusian delegation came with a working visit to Germany to the leading global wind industry trade fair “WindEnergy Hamburg 2016”, which was held from 27 to 30 September 2016.
A project consultant took part in the trip within a group of representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Ministry of Energy, Department for Energy Efficiency of the State Standard, Grodno regional committee of natural resources and environmental protection, RUE “Bel RDE “Ecology” and “Republican Center for Hydrometeorology, Control of Radioactive Contamination and Environmental Monitoring”.
The Belarusian delegation visited the stands of many companies and associations, including:
- developers and well-known manufacturers of wind power equipment (leaders of the sector – Vestas, Siemens, Nordex and others);
- the largest companies in the field of maintenance of wind turbines and wind potential research (GeoNet and Windguard);
- consulting company Wind Prospect (an English company providing consulting support in the sphere of implementation of renewable energy projects, including wind power);
- World Wind Energy Association (WWEA);
- Ukrainian Wind Energy Association;
As part of the educational aspect of the trip, the Belarusian specialists visited the wind power turbine “FWT D 025” of the company FWT with the installed capacity of 3.0 MW, situated near Düsseldorf (the height of the nacelle is 100 m, the diameter of the rotor is 120 m).
Representatives of the company FWT demonstrated the configuration of the wind turbine, talked about the advantages and disadvantages of this model of wind turbine and told about their future plans for its modernization.
During the trip to Germany, the Belarusian specialists obtained materials on advanced high-performance technologies and international experience in the sphere of implementation of wind power projects, informed other participants of the trade fair of the activities of the international technical assistance project “Removing Barriers to Wind Power Development in Belarus” and discussed the possibility of participation of European partners in projects for construction of wind farms in the Republic of Belarus.
