The National Action Plan for the development of “green” economy in the Republic of Belarus until 2020 was approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 1061 of December 21, 2016.
“Green” economy is a model of economic organization aimed at the achievement of goals of social and economic development while substantially reducing environmental risks and the rate of deterioration of environment.
The state determines “green” economy as a strategic priority, taking into account national peculiarities and global challenges. The implementation of “green” economy policies is aimed at the increase of potential of Belarusian economy, regional development and the enhancement of environment components.
The implementation of the National Plan will result in phased transformation of national economy, based on the introduction of “green” economy policies and the achievement of sustainable development goals, harmonization of economic, environmental and social interests.
The document describes a set of pressing interrelated environmental and economic problems, at the solving of which the planned activities of the National Action Plan are aimed.
It should be noted that the activities of power generation section of the National Plan provide the construction of wind farms with a total electric capacity of not less than 200 MW as well. The work of the international technical assistance project “Removing Barriers to Wind Power Development in Belarus” has also been taken into account: the “Wind Private Finance Organization”, which has been created within the framework of the project, is entrusted with the preparation of pre-investment assets and investment projects on the construction of wind farms with the total installed capacity of not less than 25 MW, as well as attracting necessary investments.
