The Invest and Trade in Ukraine forum was held on March 5-6 in New York, NY, and on March 8-9 in Miami, FL, bringing together representatives of Ukrainian and American business circles, public agencies and non-profit organizations. At the forum, which was organised by A7 Conferences, the parties discussed the prospects of attracting American investments into various sectors of the Ukrainian economy. Wind energy development was discussed among other issues.
The event agenda comprised two sessions on energy and infrastructure issues, with presentations of leading experts in the energy industry, who described for prospective investors the advantages and opportunities of capital investment into the Ukrainian economy, as well as the prospects of infrastructure and renewable energy development.
Among speakers representing Ukrainian establishments and business, were the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Mr Volodymyr Omelyan, the Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and Vice President of the World Wind Energy Association Mr Andriy Konechenkov, Acting Head of the Ukrainian Postal Service Mr Ihor Smiliansky, as well as other business representatives and Ukrainian business journalists.
In his speech, Volodymyr Omelyan outlined the potential for cooperation between Ukraine and the USA in the field of infrastructure, and gave an account of the latest developments in the Ukrainian legislation aimed at enhancing the investment climate and attracting new foreign investors. Mr Andriy Konechenkov delineated the prospects of investments into alternative energy projects (into wind energy, in particular) in Ukraine. Mr Alexander Repkin, the Head of the Supervisory Board of Tokmak Solar Energy, as a partner on the Renewable Energy panel, gave an account of the energy market situation in Ukraine and practical aspects of getting loans for alternative energy projects.
