"Beat Plastic Pollution" is the theme of the 2018 World Environment Day

Every year, the World Environment Day is marked on June 5; it is a key event for environmental organizations that allows bringing the attention of global community to environmental issues and raise public interest in conservation activities.

The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972: June the 5th was the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment that led to the creation of UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme).

The goal of the WED celebrations is to encourage all people to contribute to environmental protection and help realize that the key drivers in preserving our nature are every one of us, and society in general.

Ecologists have a rather broad area of activities aimed and preserving and restoring natural environment, preventing nature pollution, sustainable use and restoration of natural resources. All sorts of environmental actions are held as part of the World Environment Day celebrations; they are aimed at fostering an attitude of care towards nature and raising public environmental awareness.

This year, the theme of the World Environment Day is "Beat Plastic Pollution"; it encouraged numerous actions against the use of plastics, which is the sources of the world's ocean pollution, habitats of wild animals, and, of course, humans.

On this day, the international technical assistance project on Removing Barriers to Wind Power Development in Belarus calls all people to reflect on their feasible contribution to conservation of nature.

We would like to express our sincere greetings to all people associated with ecology, the cause of nature conservation and enhancement of the environmental wellbeing of this country and the entire planet!
